speaking of dumplings – 복수 삼부작 (2002/03/05)
my threshold for visual torture and pain just went up a notch, thanks to park chan-woon’s vengeance trilogy… which i watched (unknowingly!) backwards starting with sympathy for lady vengeance. while it’s a “loose” trilogy i recommend watching all three (in seperate sittings, for sanity’s sake) starting with mr. vengeance, just because it sets the tone and viewing expectations proper.
I was forced to watch Old Boy which I semi-watched. I completely switched off all the food associations; I don’t think of the film when I eat gyoza.
