my threshold for visual torture and pain just went up a notch, thanks to park chan-woon’s vengeance trilogy… which i watched (unknowingly!) backwards starting with sympathy for lady vengeance. while it’s a “loose” trilogy i recommend watching all three (in seperate sittings, for sanity’s sake) starting with mr. vengeance, just because it sets the tone and viewing expectations proper.

then again i think i’ll do vietnamese instead… and have this tomorrow.

things i didn’t like about my visit to papa palheta last weekend:

• the weather was too hot
• the place was too cosy (people were having conversations at levels where it seemed like they wanted strangers to listen in on their newest business venture or weekend plans… i wonder whether that couple made it to the istana?)
• the weather was too hot
• the coffee was good, but not amazing (see below)
• the weather was too hot

i blame it all on the weather. it was the blistering, sweltering, lethargy-inducing kind of sticky, humid heat that made you want to dip your entire face into a bowl of ice cream, it didn’t matter whether you were in the shade or not. too hot!

having said that papa palheta is a promising place. i do like it, just not in that sort of heat.

this slr business is hard business. i’m actually beginning to not enjoy it. i’m trying (not really) to improve, although i’d like to put some blame on my photography lecturers in school, who to be honest, really didn’t teach me anything. it’s their fault i take bad photos! (of course not.)
